IN SEASON WEIGHT TRAINING

In season strength training with weights is a must if you expect your body to remain at a high level of strength throughout the season. The ability of the body to create "force" is needed for speed, change of direction and jumping. If you are not stimulating your muscles through strength training during the season, there is a good chance your on court performance will be reduced toward the end of the season. But that's when you need to be at your best as your team fights for the playoffs and beyond.

True 2 Hoops athletic performance trainer Abel Gomez talks about why in season strength training is important and gives you a few examples of some exercises for in season strength training. Once a week for about 20-30 minutes is all you will need to maintain that peak performance all season long.

You should consult your coaches and trainers for a full in season workout.
